The Veteran finished

Finally back to painting!

Recap of the background:

The Veteran the sole survivor of an entire stellar legion. The rest of the grand army he belonged to got wiped out in the pandemonium of the mysterious event known as the Fourth Conflux.
He carries the weight of two million mens failure on his shoulders in the form of the bones of soldiers from the annihilated regiments.

Tired and weary he presses on - his final mission to lay down the remains of his battle brothers at the steps of the imperial palace.
He is his late comrades only hope for redemption in the eyes of the Emperor.

    1. Cheers mate!

I think I managed to capture something in this mini - a gritted determination. It didn't turn out exactly like I wanted though, but then again what does?

  2. Hurrah for your return to painting!

That figure looks exactly as you describe, weary, which is a trick considering how heroic most of the GW figures are.

    1. Thanks!
Say what you will of the Space Wolves, but the heads do have a lot of character. Combined with the hunched pose of the hybrids it created a vary special mood.

  3. What an excellent character - he writes his own backstory.

    1. Cheers!

I think they all write their own background - I rarely feel the need to write long backstories...

  4. Nice to see you posting again mate.

This fellow looks very much the perfect match to your backstory. Stooped with the weight of guilt and failure.

    1. Tack Erik!

The boinic hand was a late addition - he needed to look like he sacrificed a lot for the Imperium (obviously with nothing to show for it...)

  6. Fantastic work. Suitably universe weary and beaten. Very much enjoying your contribution to The Pilgrym, man.
